Unity Factory Day (again)

On my last birthday, I wrote that I knew of two celebrations on this date. There is John the Baptist’s saint’s day in countries which still use the Julian calendar. In Russia, John is “Ivan”; and the word for Baptist is the archaic Slavic “Kupala”. The celebration is called just “Ivan Kupala”. The other important observance on this date is Unity Factory Day in Yemen, when “workers celebrate by turning their factories into places of recreation and play rather than work”.

So Unity Factory Day it is. I don’t know if there’s a traditional greeting. “May you build your tractors well, comrade!”

In the true spirit of Unity Factory Day, I’m going to goof off and not write a proper blog. See ya.
